SANTA FE - Inn of the Anasazi, A Rosewood Hotel is thrilled to announce that Executive Chef Martin Rios has been honored again with the New Mexico Restaurant Association's 'Chef of the Year' Award at their annual Hospitality Industry Awards event held April 16, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. The event celebrated superheroes in the hospitality industry with a sold-out crowd of over 450 who gathered to honor the best talent in the industry. The award ceremony (voted on by restaurant professionals) has spotlighted top performers since the New Mexico Restaurant Association (NMRA) was founded in 1946. Chef Martin Rios was named 'Chef of the Year' by the NMRA in 2000 and is the only chef in the last 20 years to have won this coveted award twice.
"We are thrilled for Martin and so proud to see him named 'Chef of the Year' by a panel of his peers," said Marcie Lieberman, Managing Director of the Inn. "To be honored twice with such a coveted distinction is a testament to Martin's unbelievable talent and his respect within the industry."
From a dishwasher in his grandmother's restaurant in Guadalajara, Mexico to becoming Executive Chef at the Inn's Anasazi Restaurant, Chef Rios' passion for food has taken him around the world in pursuit of culinary innovation and creativity that is synonymous with his name and his cooking experience. Rios has over 25 years experience at award-winning restaurants and hotels around the world including The Old House Restaurant and Eldorado Hotel in Santa Fe, Park Avenue Café in New York and an apprenticeship in the kitchen of Georges Blanc, a master of the French culinary world. He also worked with famed World Pastry Champion Jean Marc Guillot, in France.
Honoring the culinary legacies of the Southwest, Chef Rios' innovative style of pairing Southwestern and Asian influences with a refined French technique is captured in menus that fuse fresh seasonal fare and locally grown ingredients with his signature sauces. During Rios' tenure at the Inn his inventive cooking style has made an outstanding restaurant even better, and he has helped guide the Inn of the Anasazi, A Rosewood Hotel to yet another Mobil Four-Star rating and AAA Four-Diamond rating in 2007 - maintaining the hotel and the restaurant's leadership position as one of New Mexico's most highly acclaimed culinary destinations.
